CV for Susan Ellenton, Bench Jeweller

Training

In 1973-74, worked as a silvermith’s trainee in Auckland New Zealand,

under the direction of Willard Smith. Otherwise, mostly self taught,

though I have taken a few short community courses.

In 2008, completed the Rio Grande PMC Certification at the Revere Academy

in San Francisco, under Chris Darway.

Galleries

I’ve been making and selling my own designs in copper and silver since 1975.

I’m proud to be represented by:

The Avenue Gallery in Oak Bay BC,

Butchart Gardens in Brentwood Bay BC,

Shoekatshoo in Orangeville Ontario.

Over the years I’ve shown my work through leading galleries in Victoria, Whitehorse, Chemainus, Kitchener, and Toronto, and at various craft fairs including Victoria’s Out of Hand and Vancouver’s Van Deusen Gardens.

Teaching

I’ve always had a strong interest in education. I have extensive teaching and public speaking skills as a former CRD park naturalist, and for a number of years I successfully ran my own music school, Authentic Voices.

I teach PMC and basic silversmithing from my studio in Vic West, in small classes and one-to-one.

Memberships

I’m a PMC Ambassador, a volunteer position with the North American PMC Guild.

I’m an active member of the on-line jewellers community Orchid (see ganoksin.com).

I’m registered in the Metal Clay Masters Registry, studying towards the highest professional

qualifications in sintering. (Currently there are about 100 of us worldwide.)
